Senate Election: Presidential Ordinance seems to be based on hypothetical principle, Chief Justice The Supreme Court heard a presidential reference on holding the Senate elections through open ballot. Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Gulzar Ahmed remarked that the ordinance seems to be based on hypothetical principle, the President cannot be prevented from issuing the ordinance. Justice Ejaz-ul-Haq said that if there was any contradiction in the ordinance and the court replied in the negative, it would automatically become ineffective. Justice Umrata Bandial said that under Article 226, why the procedure of other elections including Prime Minister and Ministers has been kept secret? We have also seen good politicians in the country, not all politicians should be weighed in the same scale.
